Hobbies

I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in English Literature at Columbia University. I have my California Teaching Credential in English Language and Literature, with an authorization in the teaching of English Language Learners. I have taught in both the middle school and high school classrooms, and have been a one-on-one tutor for six years. I am especially passionate about the teaching of writing, and can help your student at any stage in the writing game: from brainstorming to the finishing touches. I am also very excited about the teaching of literature: especially about how to make typically read middle and high school novels more thrilling and palatable to secondary school students. Patience, kindness, humor, and a steady introduction of new skills and reinforcement of old skills are the hallmarks of my teaching philosophy.
