I have a B.A. cum laude from Bryn Mawr College, where I was an English major. I spent my junior year of college at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. The rest of my professional training comes from more than 30 years in book publishing.
Experience
I am an experienced freelance children's book editor who has guided many well-known and award-winning authors. I am also currently a writing instructor for high school students in a college access program called Minds Matter. I have been a senior-level editor at major publishing houses including HarperCollins and Henry Holt/Macmillan Publishers, among others. Some of the writers I have worked with are: Katherine Paterson, Avi, Betsy Byars, and Jean Craighead George. I am the editor of GRAMMAR GIRL'S ULTIMATE WRITING GUIDE FOR STUDENTS. With special expertise in grammar, I have developed a flexible approach to meet the needs of many different kinds of writers--from struggling students to professionals. I can help you with any kind of writing: --term papers --college application essays --short or long pieces of fiction or nonfiction I especially enjoy working with students and anyone who needs help shaping and restructuring their written work.
