Experience
I have taught Creative Writing/ Fiction Writing/ Professional Business Communications for the University of Iowa as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for three years. I have worked one-on-one with countless students/tutees on College Essays, High School Essays, Short Stories, Poems, and Novel excerpts. I have taught Fiction for the Iowa Young Writers' Studio and have mentored many young writers through the program. I have taught Travel Writing and courses in Journaling/Commonplace books to 5th-8th graders for ACADEMY in Southern Oregon. I love teaching in the classroom but I especially love working one-on-one with students on their writing. It is an amazing experience to watch a HS student write essays for college applications that transform into moving, personal essays after multiple drafts. It is even more rewarding for me to work with aspiring young writers on their fiction/creative non fiction/ poetry, to watch them discover the stories they want to tell, to help them create pieces they are proud of, and to note the way their ability to articulate themselves improves, as well as their confidence.

Hobbies
I have been working on a novel for many years now. It is a novel about a family and is told through multiple perspectives. The novel has been my highest aspiration. I love teaching and my most rewarding job has been teaching Fiction Writing at the Iowa Young Writers' Studio. When I am not writing, reading, or teaching, I enjoy taking boxing lessons, yoga, or pursuing my interest in ceramics. I would love to learn how to throw mugs on the wheel and I am working towards this goal.
