Education

3rd year medical student at Weill Cornell Medical College. B.A. in Psychology with honors from Boston College in 2011, graduated magna cum lauda with a GPA of 3.8.

Experience

I worked for 3 years as high school math teacher at a public school in Baltimore prior to medical school as a member of Teach for America and I am certified to teach in Maryland. During that time I taught a variety of math classes including Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, SAT Prep, and Statistics and served as the math department head during my last year of teaching. I also taught AP Psychology. While in Baltimore I volunteered for an after school program designed to help minority high school students interested in careers in medicine. In my role I designed curricular materials and taught for the math portion of an SAT prep course that helped our students SAT scores on average by 300 points over the course of one year. I've missed the opportunity to work with students during medical school, and now that I have some more free time I'm looking forward to the chance to teach again. There is nothing better than having the time to work one on one with a student who is ready to learn. My scores: SAT math = 750, reading = 700 MCAT = 36

Hobbies

I try to be a very active person. I love running and ran the Boston Marathon during my senior year in college (not very fast though). I'm currently training for the Brooklyn half marathon. I also like the outdoors and like to hike as much as possible. I love sports, and try to play as much pick up basketball as I can with my medical school classmates! I also like music and played the guitar for a long time, though it has fallen by the wayside somewhat as I have been busy with medical school. Otherwise, I am a pretty regular guy, I like spending time with friends and I often visit my family in New Haven, CT, where I spend most of my time helping my 16 year old sister with her math homework.
