Education

I hold a BA degree in Linguistics (English and German) from Luhansk Pedagogical University, Ukraine. I am currently in my senior year at CUNY, NYC, majoring in German and French Literature. I am graduating this spring, hoping to keep up my current GPA of 3.98. Russian is my native language and I have a formal training in it from my middle and high school years in Ukraine.

Experience

I am a Russian native speaker, originally from Ukraine. I have been studying German for 10 years and French for three years. I have been employed as a language tutor at Baruch College, CUNY for more than a year and have been giving private Russian lessons for a year to my older students. I have been an A student throughout my entire academic career, as I've been genuinely interested in the subjects I've studied.

Hobbies

Languages and literature are the passion of my life. I have been studying them in academic environment and on my own since the middle school. Having been taught for so many years by different professors with different teaching approaches, as well as from my own experience of working as a tutor, I have discovered my own style of teaching, that is, tailoring lessons based on the student's learning preferences and goals, creating a fun and non-oppressive learning environment, preferring Socratic method in order to encourage the student to rely on and trust her/his own intelligence and knowledge. I genuinely enjoy helping others in pursuing their academic and intellectual goals and I always try to incorporate in my lessons relevant cultural, historical, or political elements. I am applying to a PhD program in Cultural Anthropology for the next year.
