My name is Hesham, I am a graduate of Stuyvesant High School, Sophie Davis @ CCNY, and currently a fourth year medical student at New York University. I started private tutoring over 10 years, as a sophomore in high school. Since then, I have tutored middle, high school, undergraduate college, and graduate students in a variety of subjects, including SHSAT prep, SAT prep, ACT prep, Algebra, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, USMLE Step 1 prep, and more! I have also taught as a classroom instructor for a prominent test prep company for over five years. I believe that there are two main components to not only doing well, but excelling on examinations. The first is a strong foundation of the subject matter. Whether you're taking a high school algebra or medical school physiology exam, it is imperative that you are confident with the subject material. As a tutor, that is my first mission as a tutor. I utilize books, diagrams, videos, and questions to help you learn the material. I've always been an advocate of LEARNING the material, not simply MEMORIZING it. The second vital component is knowing how to take a standardized exam. Test taking strategies, such as pacing and learning how to make educated guesses, are very important skills that will boost your score even more. I teach my students valuable sets of test taking skills, that can be utilized for any examination at any level. I help you work on these skills by answering practice questions with you and thinking through them thoroughly alongside you. Lastly, the most important attribute of an excellent tutor is one who you can relate to. As a 25 year old, I am a young tutor who graduated from high school and college not too long ago. I have a passion for teaching, as it helps me share my knowledge with others while honing my skills as well. Education is of the utmost importance to a great future and career, and I have been very fortunate to have excellent teachers and mentors along the way. Tutoring is my way of giving back. Thank you!
