Education

I have a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA

Experience

Hello, My name is Conrad and my background includes a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. In the past, I worked for various engineering firms in building public rail systems. This was until I found my true calling, teaching. I began tutoring as a volunteer in 2008 at an after school program in Philadelphia called Northern Home. The children there were in first through fifth grade and we covered all subjects from reading and writing to history and math. When I moved to New York City in 2012, I volunteered at a similar after school program in Hell's Kitchen with students in elementary school, called Page Turners. In 2014, I began tutoring professionally, working with college students at NYU taking pre-calculus and physics. The following year, I started working with a company that specializes in homeschooling. I teach sixth grade (special needs), basic math and science, as well as eleventh grade, physics and calculus. I still work with the same professional tutoring companies to this day. My personal approach to tutoring can be described as empathetic, fluid, and adaptive. First, it's empathetic because I understand how anyone can not comprehend a concept... yet. Sometimes concepts slip through our mental cracks or we have a temporary mental block. Good news! This can be overcome with a good teacher like me coupled with practice. Second, my style is fluid because I can find what way of learning works best for you. Everyone learns differently and it doesn't have to be done one way. Last, I am adaptive because I can teach and help students learn, whatever the situation calls for. I've helped students from all backgrounds, from special needs to elementary school to high school all the way through college. I look forward to helping and if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask. All the best, Conrad
