Education

I studied French and Black Studies at Amherst College. I graduated in 2014 with a GPA of 3.73/4.00. I did my undergraduate thesis on masculinity in South African literature, and it won magna honors. I also won a college award for my thesis; it was the best work on any aspect of the LGBTQ experience. I enjoy researching South African politics and history, gender politics, and social movement theory. I hope to attend law school in the near future and am studying for the LSAT.

Experience

I have tutored for history classes, biology, geometry, algebra, and research. I have about 4 years of teaching and tutoring experiences. from being an Upward Bound Counselor in 2012, to serving as a French tutor and reading mentor in college, to doing a year of AmeriCorps service where I tutored in all subjects - from math to science to French language - and helped students prepare for the Massachusetts standardized test. I also did a lot of work with English Language Learners. My AP exam scores are as follows: I got a 5 on AP biology, 4s on AP English Lit and English Language, a 5 on AP Psychology, and 5s on AP World History and AP US History. I have extensive research experience. I just completed a Research Fulbright in South Africa and received magna honors for my undergraduate thesis.

Hobbies

I love playing Ultimate Frisbee, running, and reading in my spare time. I cycle to work and enjoy exploring Brooklyn. I'm originally from North Carolina, where I spent most of my childhood, but I've lived in Paris, Johannesburg, Boston, Maryland and Atlanta in the past. I love traveling and I hope to visit Korea as my next destination.
