Private tutor in New York, NY
Columbia University in the City of New York - BA, Biology ('15) Chinese University of Hong Kong - MD, Medicine and Surgery ('20)
As a graduate at Columbia University and a current medical student, I am committed to lifelong learning. I started out working at Columbia as a teaching assistant for Chemistry Lab and a peer tutor for General Chemistry. Beyond the campus of Columbia, I have also tutored students with learning disabilities. Coming from a global background, I have joined a tutoring agency in Hong Kong working with high school students on admission tests (ACT and SAT) and college applications. Having a heavy research background and science-focused education, I have developed a systematic and problem-solving approach to tutoring students. Typically, I start off with a mini-lecture on the topic. Then, I have students engage with the topic by working through problems. My students have given me positive feedback on the effectiveness of this method. In addition, I recognize that each student is different and have a unique way of learning. I am adaptable and will use the teaching method that best suits the students' needs. Most importantly, the reasons why I love my work as a tutor are the ability to engage with students on a deep intellectual level and see them transform as thinkers.
