Experience
I was a City Year AmeriCorps member from 2013-2014 which allowed me to work full-time tutoring and teaching middle school students, primarily in reading and language arts. I have experience creating individualized learning plans and creating goals based on data. In addition to my AmeriCorps experience, I have worked one-on-one with students through a Homework Club program, and through Saturday Academy at a local elementary school in Harlem. I have worked with students with special needs at an elementary, middle, and high school level. I have taken coursework on learning disabilities, child and adolescent development, reading interventions, and reading comprehension and study skills. Recommended by my undergraduate professor, I was also a psychological statistics tutor for my department for one year. Currently, I am studying to become a certified school psychologist and I am gaining knowledge about intelligence testing, social/emotional testing, special education, and mental health disorders.
