My name is Maya Shrago. I received my master degree in biology major. I was employed as a tutor at The 1 on 1 Academic Tutors program from 12/2011-6/2012 where I work with junior high school students to help them get ready for the English Language Arts State Exam. The basis of my teaching methodology is to create such lessons that center on individual needs of my students. Also I worked as a tutor in the after school programs for Hector Fontanez Public School 2/2011-6/2011 Orange Line After School Tutoring Center 7/2009-2/2014, and Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School 3/2009-6/2009. I have worked with multicultural and socio-economically diverse student population of all ages. Such teaching experience enabled me to incorporate a variety of pedagogical approaches. Providing tutoring to students allowed me on many occasions to help the lead teacher assess students’ needs, goals, and struggles. My students never hesitate to discuss their doubts and fears with me. One of my biggest strengths is my ability to plan effective teaching activities and to make learning an effective, exciting, and comfortable experience for children. I have successfully helped students in all areas of the curriculum and have created a positive learning environment. I am highly inquisitive, motivated, creative and resourceful, and possess excellent ability to pay close attention to details. I worked as a tutor because helped my students to succeed in subjects I taught them. I helped them to improve their knowledge and test scores.
