Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

B.A. in English Literature & Political Science from Saint Michael's College, Colchester, VT M. Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Lesley University, Cambridge, MA

Experience

I love literacy! I worked as a Reading and Writing classroom teacher for 8 years in Boston and Brooklyn at highly effective charter schools. For the past 5 years, I have worked as a Dean of Curriculum & Instruction at a middle school, overseeing all of the reading and writing instruction across grades 5-8. My students typically come to us a few years under grade level, and ultimately outperform their peers at 25 network charter schools. I have also worked as an SAT tutor for grades 9-11 in Boston, and spent 4 years running after school tutoring program for a public middle school in Boston.

Hobbies

I love working with children, particularly to help them with reading and writing! Outside of school, I love to read, practice yoga, take cycling classes, and enjoy New York restaurants with friends! I can't wait for warm weather because I tend to live at the beach in the summer! I know how hard it can be to build confidence with reading and writing for a child who is struggling, but I have so many tricks and strategies that I would love to share!
