Experience
Being raised in Cuba, I am a native Spanish speaker who attended the University of Havana and completed a bachelor's degree in Art History. After coming to the United States, I studied Information Technology and Graphic Communication at the City College of San Francisco in California. I am now a school teacher and fiction writer. Having learned English as a second language, I know how daunting it can be for students to learn subjects that seem impossible to them. I can relate to students and show them that they can overcome obstacles and succeed with effort. Learning should be joyful and enriching, and I'm happy to teach anyone who wants to learn lessons while having fun as well. Students who are having fun are more likely to be engaged, making them able to gain and retain knowledge more easily and fully. I teach all different age groups and levels of Spanish, including Spanish 1 through 4, languages, SAT subject test in Spanish, and conversational Spanish. I strive to provide the necessary tools for my students to learn and excel in composition, grammar, conversation, and vocabulary. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, writing, science, arts, traveling, hiking, and martial arts.
