Experience

I love math and helping others grasp mathematical concepts. I have a bachelor's degree from Howard University in economics with a minor in math. I have always felt the desire to teach others, and I have tutored students at a middle school level to a pre-calculus level. I tutor algebra 1-4, trigonometry, elementary math, middle school math, geometry, and college algebra. I have been an on campus peer tutor and a teacher's assistant to a middle school teacher. I have a high-energy personality and strive to help my students reach their chosen goals. I believe it is important for my students to learn by doing. It is better for the student to do the work to figure out an answer by themselves with guidance from a teacher, than for them to be shown the work with just an explanation. With the former, the student will learn to truly understand how the problem was solved, which is of utmost importance in math. Outside of tutoring, I have a corporate job in New York City. I spend time volunteering because I feel it is important to give back to my community. My hobbies include learning about art and comic books.
