My name is Alyssa Ulrich. I currently am a third grade teacher! I have also taught second grade for two years. Growing up I have always wanted to become a teacher. I enjoy working with students and watching them grow. For the past ten years, I have also been a lifeguard and am WSI certified. As a result I further teach swim lessons as well. I attended the University of Delaware for my undergraduate degree. There I graduated with two majors, Elementary and Special Education and a math certification. Following this I quickly received my NY State certification and received an incredible teaching opportunity in Riverdale, NY. Currently, I live on the Upper West Side and hope to have the opportunity to tutor you! I recently completed my Master's Degree at Hunter College in Literacy. With this Master's degree I believe I am a perfect candidate to tutor your child! I look forward to hearing from you. Math is definitely my favorite subject. I enjoy teaching it as well as learning it. At the University of Delaware I received a certification in elementary math. Math should be fun and I enjoy creating hands on activities to help make math come alive. I believe reading and writing should be enjoyable for students. Last year, it was extremely rewarding seeing my students move up two-four reading levels. Reading should be fun for students of all ages and I hold many strategies and tools to make reading interesting and motivating. I received my undergraduate degree in Special Education. I have a great deal of patience and determination to help your child succeed. Currently, I am the Special Education teacher in an Integrated Co-teaching classroom. I create IEP's and lead annual IEP meetings as well.
Experience
Throughout my journey to become a certified teacher I was able to have the experience to student teach in a first grade classroom and a fourth and fifth grade classroom. Additionally, I have work experience teaching second and third grade. Prior to obtaining my permanent job, I was a sub in an elementary school and worked in all K-5 grades.
