I'm originally from California and moved to New York City to attend Columbia University for undergrad. I graduate from Columbia in 2015 with a BA in Environmental Biology. During undergrad, I interned at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH)'s genomics lab working for evidence of hybridization in Costa Rican scarlet macaws and the implications for conservation management. After undergrad, I complete a research fellowship at the San Diego Zoo's Institute for Conservation Research working on the population genetics of burrowing owls. Now I'm a MS student at Fordham University working at the AMNH on speciation and hybridization of neotropical crocodiles. I am also a teaching assistant for the laboratory courses at Fordham. I am a believer that everyone has different ways of learning and its a teachers responsibility to teach in the manner that best suits the student. Personally, I learn best through practice and asking questions. I Lectures and exams can only get someone so far. If one actually works or can see the subject matter in a realistic way, the material can stick better and make sense.
