Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
PhD Philosophy, University of Wisconsin - Madison M.A. Philosophy, University of Wisconsin - Madison B.A. Philosophy, University of Wisconsin - Madison In addition to my formal education, I have learned an amazing amount while researching and writing on various issues in ethics and in public policy. The numerous grants I've received have allowed me to travel to various countries where I was able to develop a more international world view on these issues. And authoring a book (NYU Press) and numerous articles in scholarly journals, provided an incredible education in learning to write tight, publishable scholarly work.
Experience
I'm a retired Professor of Philosophy and Women's Studies. I have more than 25 years teaching experience in various areas of Philosophy and WS. My last position was as a research chair in Nova Scotia. I have taught basic logic, History of Ancient and Modern Philosophy, and numerous courses in Ethics. I have published numerous articles and a book with NYU Press. While I am happy to be retired from a full time position, I miss contact with students and would love to tutor.

Hobbies
Being retired has given me the time to spend on hobbies/interests that I couldn't pursue before. I am now able to follow international politics carefully. (I watch BBC News and PBS News Hour nightly as well as reading the Times.) I'm still politically active in defense of women's rights. I'm addicted to the NY Times Sunday Crossword Puzzle and I'm finally finding the time to read fiction - especially detective novels. I've recently discovered Swedish contributions to this genre and am currently reading my way through the works of Camilla Lackberg. (I've already finished all the Steig Larsen books.) I assist several cat rescue organizations with TNR (trap, neuter, return). This is an effort to control the feral cat population in the city. I'm also finding the time to get back into cooking Chinese food. My late mother-in-law, the author of a highly respected Chinese cookbook, taught me some wonderful home recipes. I'm finally able to recover my former skills and produce wonderful home-style meals again. What a treat!
