Education

CUNY College of Staten Island - Bachelors, Biology

Experience

I graduated from CUNY College of Staten Island with my bachelor of science degree in biology on the premed track. I'm bilingual, speaking English and Spanish. I have eight years of experience as a tutor, and I've worked with everyone from elementary school students to college students. My goal as a tutor is to help students with the material, but also to help them develop study skills so that they become independent learners. I utilize an assess, reinforce, and apply methodology in our sessions. I figure out what the student knows first and identify where the gaps in their learning are. From there, I fill in the gaps with further instruction and explanations. I then have the student practice to apply the knowledge they have gained. This three-step process repeats as a student makes progress and works towards success. I utilize multiple learning modalities along the way to accomplish this.
