I am an experienced writer and editor who also enjoys tutoring. I have a bachelor's degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University. My other experiences include editing and writing for literary magazines for two years, hosting a radio show and studying in many different locations. Additionally, I grew up in a family comprised mostly of editors, so our dinner conversations often led me to a reference text. I just naturally have loved grammar and etymology; I guess you can say it comes naturally for me. I grew up always thirsting for knowledge and even now, I am constantly looking things up. I want to spread this love of knowledge to other people through tutoring. My tutoring philosophy is personalization. I believe in spending time with my students and learning their personal academic needs. Then I create a custom lesson plan to address their weaknesses. I also believe that tutors and teachers alike should know and use multiple teaching methods. Whatever it is that helps your child learn, songs, mnemonic devices, or others, your child and I will find a method that suits them the best.
