I received my degrees from Michigan State University and the CUNY Graduate School and University Center. I've been teaching literature and writing courses for nearly twenty years. I've also tutored at the university writing center. During my time as a teacher, I've met many types of people, and I recognize the diversity of learning styles.I've found the most effective way to teach English skills is to meet with students individually. By learning more about their interests, academic goals, and the aspects of the language they find most challenging, I am able to provide the tools and resources that will be most beneficial for their situation.I tutor several specific courses, including reading, writing, essay writing and editing, literature, grammar and mechanics, and English. I am also able to help students prepare for specific exams. I find it quite rewarding to help a student transition from a place of discouragement in the writing process to a place of confidence. During my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and softball.
