Experience
My background is in teaching English. I received my bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing from Ohio State University. I taught middle school for several years, where I not only taught English, but also science, so I can help students in both of these subjects. Tutoring is great for me, though, because I am able to get to know students as individuals. I can learn about their unique personalities and interests, which helps me to help them. I am currently working on my graduate studies at Columbia Teacher's College so that I can continue to help struggling students improve their grammar and reading skills. I can tutor many areas of English, including grammar, mechanics, phonics, essay writing and editing, college admissions essays, reading comprehension, literature, and preparation for standardized tests like the SAT, ACT, and GRE. I can also work with students on earth, life, and physical sciences, as well as elementary and middle school math. I can also help students with important test preparation, study skills, and organization. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy exploring New York City's shows, shops, and museums.
