I have studied French ever since I was eleven. While I was in college, I had the opportunity to study abroad twice. When I lived in France, I was able to improve my language skills. I gained the confidence as a speaker, and gained a sense of French spoken outside of a classroom. While studying French at Colby College I discovered that my work was much more interesting and engaging when I understood why it was used and its context. I like to show how the language can be interesting and also useful. I believe by connecting the matter of subject to the real world a student may more easily learn the material. I believe that a key factor in learning the language is confidence. That is a skill I plan to instill in my students. I plan on showing all of my students how to be excited about learning new material. I believe that I can show them that the material can be exciting. Therefore, I can better teach them.In my free time I enjoy cooking, working on art, and working with photography.
