James C.

Private tutor in New York, NY

Education

I have recently graduated from Bard High School Early College Queens, a program that consists of two years of high school and two years of college, where I recieved primarily A's. I am now attending Columbia University and am majoring in chemistry and pre-law.

Experience

I have tutored for many family friends, and have worked well with children as well as young adults who I have tutored in the past. I also took frequent part in the peer tutoring program at my high school. I recieved a 2180 the only time that I took the SAT and have a relative good grasp of the focuses of the test. I have taken all the core high school classes as well as organic chemistry, calculus III, cultural anthropology, and many other specialized college courses. I would like to be a tutor because I like working with children and other young adults to help them develop their knowledge and understanding of what they are being taught so that they can have success and are motivated to do well in whatever they choose to do in life.

Hobbies

I have danced for over ten years at the School of American Ballet as well as appearing on stage at New York City Ballet several times. I also love playing and watching tennis when I get the chance. I also love trivia and am constantly watching jeopardy to try to develop my base of knowledge. I can be very competitive which I usually use to try and motivate the student I am working with but if necessary I can dial it back and use other teaching approaches.
