EducationNew York University - Current Undergrad, Business
ExperienceCurrently, I am studying business at the Stern School of Business at New York University. After taking many AP courses myself (Economics, Calculus, Physics, and Statistics), I am very comfortable tutoring the subjects. My career as a tutor began the summer before my senior year of high school, when I was employed at a tutoring facility that specialized in Math and Reading. I tutored in a one-to-one environment with students in Math subjects that included elementary level Math through Calculus. I believe patience is key to working with students because everyone learns a different rate, which is a main reason students fall behind at school. I work to make connections from the material they are learning to something that they are more able understand, and to engage the students in the learning process through participation. I want my students to understand the concepts and to be able to utilize them. I feel the one-to-one relationship in a tutoring session allows me to recognize where a student is struggling and to help them on the level they need. As a student myself, I have experience in how overwhelming and impossible learning can feel at times. I have found that slowing down, breaking large problems into more manageable steps, and recognizing the source of the problem is how I overcome my obstacles in education. It is also how I will attempt to run my tutoring sessions and assist my clients.
