Experience
As a tutor, I focus on keeping an open mind and working closely with my students. My mother was an educator, so I learned good study habits from her, as well as tricks to help with challenges like reading. While I was in school, I often helped my classmates with their homework. I am drawn to helping others learn new subjects, especially if the coursework has been difficult for them before. I know everyone has a different learning style, and I work with my students to find their strengths. I've worked with students of all ages, but I have the most experience working with high schoolers. I am passionate about making sure high school students can write well, so their college admissions essays and class essays are the best they can be. I want them to get the grades they want, and get into the college they want to attend. While I was an undergraduate at SUNY in Binghamton, I helped my fellow students with their essays, so I understand college-level writing instruction as well. I can tutor students in literature, composition, research and writing (especially legal writing), reading comprehension, and preparation for tests like the SAT and ACT. When I'm not tutoring, you'll probably find me at the beach.
