I used to teach English within a NYC high school. As a teacher and a tutor, I work to let the students be in control of their learning process. Then I work with each student within their learning style. I have found this helps students learn effectively and efficiently. I also expect the students to ask important questions through the learning process. It is important they learn how to do this as well as feel confident and safe to continue to ask questions as their learning progresses. As a tutor, I work to ask questions myself, so the student learns how this process is done.I know that each student can be successful, even the ones who academically struggle. As a result, I expect each student to succeed and display respect for others; both of these are important in helping a student learn. I try to make each session fun and engaging, as learning shouldn't be full boring or painful. My tutoring includes French, including AP level courses related to the language and culture. I can provide tutoring in English topics of reading, writing, editing of essays, literature, and grammar. Additionally, I can provide tutoring sessions for art courses, including AP courses on drawing. I'm also available for SAT test prep and helping with preparing college essays. In my free time, I like to draw, speak French, play tennis, ride bike, watch movies, and travel.
