Education
I attended Baylor University for my undergraduate degree in International Studies. I graduated in 2012 as a cum laude with a 3.7 GPA and high honors. In addition to being a member and leader in the Honors Residential College I also made the Dean's List for five of the eight semesters that I was at school. I am currently a graduate student at Columbia University.
Experience
My highest qualification comes from having taught high school with Teach for America in Dallas ISD. Subjects taught were Biology, AP Biology, and Chemistry. My students continually scored 30 percent higher than the district average on midterm and final exams and my Classroom Effectiveness Index (CEI) was ranked in the 92 percentile. My Spanish-speaking skills stem from seven years of classroom experience (middle school, high school, and college) and over seven years of real-time language immersion. I have worked, interned, and volunteered in Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, and Mexico. In addition I worked in Spanish-speaking areas in both Houston and Dallas. My writing experience stems from essay competitions that I participated in throughout my primary and secondary education and continued training through collegiate classes at Baylor. I scored a 10 out of 12 on the SAT writing portion and scored a 4 and a 3 on the AP English Composition and AP English Literature exams. In addition, I have two years of experience as a yearbook editor.
