I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching a variety of different subjects. I am currently attending Columbia University. I am in the process of completing a bachelor's degree in Earth and environmental engineering. I am also completing a minor in East Asian studies. I have experience tutoring students from the ages of 13 to 50 in chemistry and calculus. I am comfortable tutoring students in many different areas, including algebra, differential equations, geometry, trigonometry, chemistry, Japanese, arithmetic, pre-algebra, social studies, English, business, government and politics, macroeconomics, reading, and writing. I am also able to help students prepare for standardized tests. Though I can teach a variety of subjects, I prefer to tutor students in physics. I enjoy tutoring students in physics because it is easy to demonstrate phenomena. I find tutoring particularly rewarding when my students finally comprehend a difficult concept. I also enjoy finding out what learning style works best for my students and adapting the way I teach to accommodate that. My philosophy as a tutor is to help my students gain a solid qualitative understanding of a subject before focusing on the quantitative side. In my free time, I like to sing, play the drums, play the piano, and play the guitar.
