Private tutor in New York, NY
Pomona College - BA, Mathematical Economics , Columbia University in the City of New York - MA, International Affairs
I am very passionate about learning, and enjoy helping my students find passion in education, as well. My favorite subjects to teach are advanced Mathematics courses, like Trigonometry and AP Calculus BC. I enjoy teaching advanced subjects, because I think these courses are the ones that really benefit students later in life, just like they've helped me in my own career in international security. However, I also tutor a variety of other subjects and help students prepare for tests, such as the SAT and GRE. I don't just like math - I really love it. I am also very passionate about Economics. As an elective in high school, I taught AP Mathematics courses at the Episcopal School of Los Angeles. I then attended Pomona College in Claremont, California, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Mathematics Economics. I am now in NYC attending Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs, and pursuing my master's degree in International Affairs. When I tutor, I really like to help students understand the materials they are learning and not just memorize the steps needed to complete a Math equation. This is what helps them become better students in Mathematics. I enjoy explaining how to solve problems, and I often include both visual and theoretical interpretations. I have great enthusiasm for the subjects I teach, which helps me be a great tutor. I enjoy running and painting in my free time.
