I am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching math and English. I graduated from Skidmore College with a bachelor's degree in philosophy and economics. I also graduated from St. John's University with a master's degree in adolescent education. I am certified as a middle school and high school teacher. I am qualified to teach all four of the main subject areas, but I am especially adept at teaching math. I have taught at public school in the South Bronx for the past two years. This has proven to be a challenge, but I am pleased to say that I have helped my students get excited about math and learning. This experience has provided me with the opportunity to work with many students on an individual level. My philosophy as a teacher is to make sure that what I teach is memorable. I like to relate topics to the real world and create mnemonic devices to help my students remember various processes and strategies. Once they are able to understand the basic processes and strategies, it is possible to examine why they work. I believe it is extremely important to make sure that my students can think critically.
