Experience

For two summers, I worked as a Lead Counselor for a scholars program. In the program, I taught Algebra 1 for a summer, and prep for the SSAT during another summer. I also have experience working with a tutoring service that allowed me to tutor students. My experience also includes having worked as a technical assistant for three years at both the Chemistry and Neuroscience departments at Amherst College. A great takeaway for me was learning that trust is critical to any successful relationship. My students trusted me because I strove to present their subject matter in a clear, competent manner. As such, I strive to be mentally flexible and to adapt my tutoring style to their learning style. This allows me to approach subject matter from an entirely different angle. This approach has earned me the trust and confidence students I have tutored. Every student has a different learning capacity. When you tap into a student's learning capacity with a one-on-one approach, positive things can result. I have learned to describe the thinking process of how I arrive at each decision. I strive to teach my students to do the same. Allow me to work with your child and watch the positive things that can result.
