Experience
In my current role as a History and Special Education Teacher in NYC Public Schools, I design and implement rigorous and differentiated Common Core-aligned curricula for high school courses in US History & Government and Global History & Geography. I also facilitate student learning using evidence-based methods and student-centered activities, peer teaching, and Universal Design for Learning principles. I plan and execute data-driven instruction via Skedula and Schoology, two prominent education technology platforms, to maximize student achievement. Additionally, I tutored a 7th grade student for the 2014-2015 academic school year and successfully increased her reading comprehension and decoding abilities from a 5th to a 7th grade instructional level. Drawing on my graduate school education from Hunter College, I use contemporary practices in my tutoring to evaluate student learning and track progress. My background as a special educator makes me an especially qualified tutor.
