Seventeen years ago, i began to tutor students from many different backgrounds, countries, and levels in English. I have over four hundred hours of tutoring for Wyzant, an online tutoring service. I charge $45 an hour. i live in Manhattan and my hours are flexible. In addition, I have worked at the Berlitz School for seventeen years, whose curriculum emphasizes not only conversation but also the rules of grammar,i.e. parts of speech, verb tenses, syntax, and vocabulary. For ESL students, I encourage them to use the language as spoken by native speakers. I am an experienced tutor in ACT and SAT reading comprehension. I am someone who loves to help students understand how the English language is put together, to instill in students how to make their homework papers more interesting. Very importantly, there should be a certain amount of pleasure in the learning process, not just some boring rote learning experience. I also, do creative writing and have helped give feedback to other creative writers. Learning how the language works can be exciting!
