Columbia University - BA, Political Science; Human Rights , Relay Graduate School of Education - MA, Education
After graduation from Columbia University, I worked in a well-regarded elementary charter school in New York City for three years. After that, I was a member of Teach for America for two years; I taught fourth graders in a General Education and an ICT setting. At the same time I finished my Education MA from Relay Graduate School of Education. I graduated with distinction. Over 70 percent of my students achieve a pass rate on the Common Core ELA Assessment, and over 90 percent pass on the Common Core Math Assessment. This last year I served as Assistant Principal of our school, supervising K-2 teaching for four months, and third and fourth grade teaching for 6 months. As the Assistant Principal I help our teachers implement curriculum in literacy and math, and assisted them in improving overall teaching methods. Because of this, I am well versed in Common Core standards for elementary grades in Literacy and Math. While at Columbia I also tutored students in middle school. As a tutor, I mold my instruction to the individual student and push them to exceed their own expectations. In addition to teaching and tutoring, I like to travel, play tennis, play piano, and visit museums and watch plays.
