Education
I received a BA in Africana Studies and Sociology at Bowdoin College, a small liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. I received this degree in May 2013. I graduated with a 3.4 GPA. I am currently pursuing a M. Ed in School Counseling at Brooklyn College. I expect to receive my Master's degree in May 2017. I currently have a 3.93 GPA.
Experience
Currently, I am a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher at a public charter school in Harlem. I do small group and individual instruction while the lead teacher does whole class instruction. I also have a stronger grasp on reading and comprehension. While being in the classroom, I have noticed that students lose much educational ground during the summer. Through tutoring, I believe that students will be able to maintain and build on their reading, comprehension, and math skills. This summer, I will be tutoring one of my students who will be moving on to 1st grade. I will be helping him work on his reading and math skills so that he can be prepared for 1st grade.

Hobbies
I enjoy exploring museums and attending cultural festivals. This summer, I plan on visiting the New York Transit Museum, the Museum of Moving Image, and "The Rise of Sneaker Culture" exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. I also want to go to the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, the Fulton Street Fair, the Dance Theatre of Harlem Street Festival, and the Afropunk Festival. Hopefully, I'll be able to see "Wicked" on Broadway this summer as well as catch a performance by the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. I also like to travel so I plan on doing weekend vacations to explore new places as well as visit friends and family.
