Claremont McKenna College - BA, Literature, Film, and Gender Studies , Teachers College, Columbia University - MA, Teaching of English, Grades 7-12
I recently graduated from Claremont McKenna College, cum laude, and I will soon attend Teachers College, Columbia University, where I will work towards my Master of Education degree. This degree focuses on teaching English to students between grades 7 and 12.Tutoring has long been part of my life, as I was the head consultant for my college's Center for Writing and Public Discourse. I was also part of an educational task force where I was responsible for teaching high school students every Saturday morning. Many of the students I taught were the first members of their families to apply to colleges and universities, and my role was to help them with their application essays. Additional experience that I have includes working at an educational nonprofit and organizing a boot camp for students who were interested in receiving help on their college entrance essays. I have studied French for the past nine years, so I am also able to tutor in that subject. In addition, I can offer assistance in literature, creative writing, reading, essay editing, social studies, and history. When I'm not studying or tutoring, I enjoy writing satire, performing spoken-word poetry, and running. Having the ability to help students build on their strengths and become successful is what makes tutoring enjoyable for me.
