Experience
As a public school teaching assistant in Manhattan, I spend most of my time working with small groups of students who are candidates for extra attention and tutoring. They might be students who need to spend more time on classroom materials, or they might be students who are gifted and need a challenge. I also tutor and mentor high school students. As much as I love my work, I did not originally plan to become a teacher. I originally started out in the fashion industry. During my first year in fashion, I discovered that I wanted to work with children. I began working as a teacher's assistant and I haven't looked back since. I mention this to show how passionate I am about my work. It is not a field I wandered into, but rather something I actively chose to pursue. My passion for teaching spans a number of subjects, including Math, Science, Art, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, and Test Preparation. I'm also well-versed in helping students prepare for the SAT and PSAT. I am still interested in fashion, but these days it is more of a hobby. It's something I do to wind down, like watching movies, going to new restaurants, or spending time with friends.
