EducationSwarthmore College - BA, Political Science, Classics
ExperienceI earned my bachelor's degree with a double major in Classical Studies and Political Science from Swarthmore College. My first experience with tutoring was in my junior year of college, when I spent time working as an Academic Mentor for other students and assisting them in managing stress and their class schedules. I worked multiple internships in the publishing industry for a company in downtown New York City. I have personally been helping my friends and family with English, Latin, and Writing for many years, but I am new to the formal tutoring process. What I have learned in the little teaching experience I do have is that each student learns in a different way and attacks problems differently. The key for me is to find what best works for each individual and then tailor my lessons specifically to them in a way they can best learn the material. I also try hard to relate whatever subject we're covering to the student and what interests them. I feel that this leads students to invest more in the material. When I'm not tutoring, I like spending time outdoors hiking, as well as reading, writing, playing games, and hanging out with my friends.
