In addition to over 20+ years experience, I hold a masters degrees in Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary and Art History from the University of Michigan. I have certification in Hypnosis, Neurolingistic Programing, Integrated Life Coaching, Counseling (Interchange) and am a Reiki pracitioner. I have worked as a professor and have developed curriculum.
Experience
I have 20+ years experience tutoring and coaching middle school through medical boards students, 6 years working for a national test prep company, and 10+ years experience vetting, hiring and training tutors. I have worked with hundreds of clients, including students at top prep schools, physicians, entertainment and advertising professionals, and advisors to U.S. government leaders. In other words: I know my stuff. It’s my belief that tests don’t only test what you know, they test how well you take tests. You don’t sleep well the night before or don’t feel like you’re on your game? That will affect your score. If you’re arrogant and annoyed you need to take another test to prove your brilliance? That will affect your score. The more in the zone (or flow or ‘present’) you feel taking a test, the better you’ll be able to perform, drawing from your knowledge and skill base, the more likely that you’ll earn a top score. You might already know what you need to succeed on your upcoming test, which is great, and we can dive in and make sure you get your needs met there, But if you’re not sure, we’ll figure out if you need work on content, strategy or mindset (or some combination of these.) Maybe you just need to bush up on content. Do you: ➢ Know the test and all the material on it – but are not accustomed to the WAY the test requires you to answer the questions or work with the information - - This is a very common issue for USMLE students. Learning how a test requires you to know information helps with this. ➢ Want/need to feel more confident and less overwhelmed. For this, I incorporate coaching similar to what a sports psychologist does with a high performance athlete. We’ll optimize your test-taking results and professional success by reducing your anxiety and enhancing your concentration, confidence, and ease. I am an expert on several standardized tests and work one-on-one with students. If I’m booked or it would seem like a better fit for you to work with one of the tutors who work for my company, I assign tutors to your case, and it's overseen by me and my staff every step of the way. Each tutor is hand picked for their knowledge, pedagogy and track record of translating their own success into that of their students. I’m respected in the field and appeared on television, radio and print media for the work I’ve done in the test prep/tutoring field, and co-authored a test prep book available in bookstores nationally, as an ebook and an AP. One thing not mentioned here is that we have an extensive USMLE/NBME/NBDE one-on-one training program which has had great success. WE work with foreign medical students, as well as those who have completed their training and who now want certification to work in the USA/Canada. I live with my rescue pup, Eloise.
