Experience
Taught elementary school in South Bronx, NYC and Port Washington, NY and Manhattan, NYC. I also tutored second graders most recently who had learning disabilities. I worked with children individually and saw great progress in reading through the use of phonics flash cards, computer programs and listening to me read to inspire interest. I have evaluations and articles as recommendations. I would like to help children experience success by helping them learn or enhance their reading skills. I worked with children of various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. i have participated eagerly in workshops and staff development opportunities in in areas of writing process and strategies for using whole language techniques. My classes did very well on the standardized tests.

Hobbies
I have a background in music and art history. i have taken children on tours of local museums to expose them to art. The children in my classes were exposed to music as well which triggered interesting creative writing results, and the words of songs further created interest in reading. I am creative and make learning to read fun. I have a young spirit and children respond positively to me. I also had my students create a newspaper (while in second grade) in which they interviewed classmates and wrote about one another. I have examples of the various reading and writing projects that were produced in many classes. I love all types of music, especially opera and attend regularly, as well as the ballet. I enjoy the theatre. I studied classical piano and come from a musical family. I enjoy visiting museums and taking advantage of what NYC has to offer culturally.
