I'm 26 years old. I have a BA in Accounting and graduated in 2013 with a 3.2 GPA. I was a Math Tutor at Quensborough Community College for 3 years (2011-2013). From 2013-2015 I worked as an Accountant for a Mutual Fund. My SAT score was 1890, taken in 2007. I've taken Calculus I and II in college. Received an A in both subjects. I want to be a tutor because I have extra time and I kind of miss tutoring, quite frankly. I'm very patient and a good communicator. I always did well in school, particularly Math, and I understand that for the majority of the population, it just doesn't "click" like it does for me. My goal is to help students see their Math problems through my eyes. I don't just give answers, I give them the line of thinking that will lead them to not only answer one question, but all related questions. I'm a huge fan of the Socratic method, where I ask the questions and let the students discover the logic for themselves. I'm a nerd at heart. I'm done with school, but I find myself sitting through the free lectures offered at MIT Opencourseware, learning about electrical engineering, quantum mechanics, computer science, etc. Nerd stuff. But for me, it's exciting, and challenging.
