John T.
Private tutor in New York, NY
Education
Colby College, BA, Art (distinction in major), cum laude, 2004 Tufts University, MA, Art History, 2008 Emory University, PhD, Art History, 2015
Experience
-I have tutored ESL for over five years. Additionally, I have six years of experience in higher education: I have taught at Harvard University, Pratt Institute, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. -I am passionate about teaching. As it is possible to customize lessons for students' specific needs (classes never move too quickly or too slowly), I find tutoring highly rewarding for both parties. Lessons in art galleries and museums will help you to develop a critical eye. I hope to be able to expand learners' knowledge of English and the history of art. -I am presently the recipient of a Luce/ACLS Fellowship in American Art. -In 2011-12 I was a Helena Rubinstein Fellow of Critical Studies at the Whitney Museum of American Art. -I have presented scholarly research on art history at the following institutions: Harvard University, Princeton University, Brown University, and the School of Visual Arts (among others).
