University of Michigan-Ann Arbor - BS, Cell & Molecular Biology

My wild path across academia to performance plays into my tutoring style. I started with an undergraduate degree in biology, with the intention of going to medical school. After teaching chemistry for a year, however, I realized that I enjoyed performing and tutoring more than I enjoyed the thought of medical school, so I moved to the Big Apple to begin my career as a stage actor. Because I love academics, however, I also enjoy tutoring. Not only do I get to stay immersed in the world of education by being a tutor, I get to help students learn to love subjects they used to hate, because they were perceived as too difficult. I know that it is a terrible idea for students to "cram" for tests because that is not actually learning the subject matter. By thoroughly learning a tough subject, however, I believe students gain new confidence in their ability to overcome obstacles in their lives. Since I received a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Michigan, and it is one of my passions, I enjoy tutoring biology students. However, I am also a certified ACT test tutor. I enjoy helping students write and craft essays, as well.
