Private tutor in New York, NY
College of William and Mary - BA, English
My tutoring approach, particularly with academic writing, focuses on making the process of writing a paper as simple and manageable as possible. I developed this approach during my time at The College of William and Mary's Writing Resource Center where I helped students master academic writing skills like organization and flow, proper paper formatting, gathering sources, proper grammar and word choice, and critical reading. When I wasn't tutoring, I was earning my bachelor's degree there in English with a minor Anthropology and concentrated studies in Film. My passion for writing and English Literature has been a large part of my success as a tutor. In fact, my skills and love of writing led me to pursue two years in publishing working at a literary agency in New York as a literary agent's assistant. In addition to English and the Social Sciences, I also specialize in Philosophy, American and European History, Geography, Global Politics, and SAT prep. In my free time, I also enjoy comedy writing and improv work, hobbies that have helped me learn how to become adaptable and keep a level head in high-stress situations, like during a presentation or an exam.
