Private tutor in New York, NY
Washington University in St. Louis - BS, Biomedical Engineering
I am a tutor in New York City, where I have been helping students prepare to take the MCAT since graduating from Washington University in St. Louis in 2014. I have a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering with an electrical engineering minor. As a tutor for more than eight years, I have helped students in a variety of subjects. My main focus is on STEM subjects, including chemistry, engineering, math, and physics. I have tutored students from middle school up to the post-graduate level.Teaching is a passion for me. My future plans are to work in academic medicine so that teaching can be incorporated into a medical career. My philosophy of teaching was developed as a result of my education in engineering. My approach encourages students to both work through problems and explain them to me. This Socratic, discussion-based approach builds confidence in the student's understanding and cements concepts in their mind. I also work with students to develop intuition rather than simply relying on memorization. Students who learn the core ideas underlying the sciences find it possible to solve new problems in the future. This same philosophy is applied to preparing for tests in addition to focusing on test strategy to help students "beat the test."In addition to tutoring I like to read, watch Netflix, play drums, and find new music artists. I am also learning to cook.
