Experience
I teach and tutor Spanish and English. In my tutoring, I cover reading, writing, elementary math, middle school mathematics, and ESL/ELL plus ISEE and SSAT test prep. I understand foreign sentence structure quite well and how culture plays a role in linguistic expression. The light bulb turning on gives me joy. I've gained experience through the No Child Left Behind program, working with kids dealing with home issues that impacted their comprehension and focus. I was challenged to find innovative ways to explain subjects so they could connect. During this time, I felt I grew as a tutor and they as students.Patient and laid back, I fully understand that kids learn at individual paces and each has different information processing capabilities. I can accommodate each and every one and build on their strengths. My credentials include a B.A. in International Relations from American University. While at John Jay College, I earned a master's degree in Public Administration and a law degree. I then taught Spanish speaking and other foreign students English as a second language. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, theatre, live music, and international travel.
