Experience

I'm a resident of New York City and recently graduated from Cornell University, where I earned my Ph.D. doing cell biology and cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Previous to that, I received a master's degree in biomedical engineering doing work at a lab for tissue engineering. My undergraduate degree in biological engineering was earned at Cornell University's Ithaca campus. During the summer while I was an undergraduate, I did Department of Defense research. I have also worked as a teaching assistant since my undergrad days for both graduate and undergraduate courses. With my background in science and engineering, I especially love to tutor math and biology. I'm also proficient at preparing students to take standardized exams such as the SAT and GRE. I believe it is the tutor's responsibility to not only help students learn the subject, but also to gain confidence. Being properly prepared makes those exams less intimidating and scary. In my spare time, I love cooking and reading. I also train and compete in both marathons and ultramarathons. Endurance athletics became my focus when I came to the realization that I was not going to become a professional basketball player. The physical and mental challenges of training and competing are a definite help in the classroom.
