A recent graduate from Washington and Lee University, I earned an undergraduate English degree and minored in mathematics. That said, my scholastic interests are as wide as they are broad, and this is reflected in the array of subject areas I love tutoring in, such as English composition and grammar, mathematics, standardized test preparation, and French.I actually got involved with tutoring inconspicuously as I was asked by my peers in high school for assistance. And so I started off in high school and kept it up on throughout my college years. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work with students ranging from grade school to post-secondary to grownups who desired either to learn or to increase their competence in English.After completing my college degree, I traveled to France for a year and spent my time there becoming intimately acquainted with the language and instructing my host family in English. As a tutor, I seek to help my students to understand complex subjects so that their confidence can continue to grow. I'm convinced that students, as they gain confidence in their own abilities, will be capable of applying that self-assurance to help them with all of the other endeavors throughout their lifetimes.While I love to work hard, I also love to play hard. Specifically, I enjoy traveling, adding to my already formidable book collection, doing yoga, enjoying community theater, and listening to choral groups.
