Education
I attended Boston University for the first year and a half of my college career. After that I graduated from Queens College (part of CUNY) for a BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology. I completed a Graduate Certificate in Management with a specialty in Marketing from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York. I graduated with Distinction from Hofstra University in Uniondale, New York with a Master of Science Degree in Reading and Writing.
Experience
I began my tutoring career by teaching Reading and Writing at CW Post University in Old Brookville, New York. After several years that became the basis for my private tutoring business. I tutored students in Elementary and Junior High School to become more successful readers and writers. The students came from the neighboring school districts of Great Neck, Manhasset, Roslyn, and Port Washington. I was very successful and my students showed much improvement. I authored seven books published by Harcourt/Steck-Vaughn Berrent that prepared students with methodology for test taking. I participated in the Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project with Lucy Calkins and Laurie Pessah. During the time I was involved with the program I attended workshops and classes at Columbia and my home schools weekly. I would enjoy teaching students again as I've been volunteering at P.S 183 in Manhattan with challenged second graders. It has been most rewarding.
