Experience
I started my career with a degree in business administration, and an intention to focus on the business world. However, I lived in Rome and taught English, and I discovered my love of teaching there. Upon returning, I received a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, along with a certificate in administration and supervision. I very much enjoy teaching and tutoring because I love to build relationships with my students as individuals and help them track their successes and advancements in their education. I've taught a wide variety of students - not just in Italy, but in the US for nine years. I have a wide range of subjects that I enjoy tutoring my students in. Standardized test preparation is hugely important, and I also tutor my students in US History, global studies, English as a Second Language, reading comprehension, writing, and grammar. Although my specialties are history and global studies, I enjoy tutoring reading and writing skills most of all because these skills apply to every academic subject and form the foundation of self-study. I approach tutoring as a partnership between myself and my student: the student does the hard work, and I provide the tool set.
